Goddard College is thrilled to celebrate accomplished creative writing alumnus Mwalim Daphunkee Professor Peters (MFAW ’06), an inspirational performing artist, author, playwright, musician, and educator. As a professor of English and former director of Black Studies at UMass Dartmouth, Mwalim employs his talents to uplift marginalized voices. His award-winning one-man show “A Party at the Crossroads” explores his experience as a Black Mashpee Wampanoag growing up in a Jewish neighborhood. His plays have been produced across the US, Canada, UK, and Caribbean. As a founding member of the Grammy-nominated band The GroovaLottos, Mwalim’s musical artistry also shines. We are extremely proud to count this innovative multi-hyphenate creator among our distinguished graduates at Goddard College. Mwalim’s commitment to social justice and free expression through his work perfectly encapsulates the boundary-pushing spirit we seek to kindle in all our students.
